Update for December 8

Kendal at Ithaca is reacting to today’s sobering release from the Tompkins County Health Department. An alarming increase in the number of cases in the county has occurred and officials warn it is resulting from spread within small gatherings and households. The Thanksgiving holiday is under suspicion for aggravating this rise.

We are taking the guidance issued today very seriously and sharing it widely with our residents, staff, families and associates. The guidance can be found at https://tompkinscountyny.gov/health/covid19-2020-12-07-health-alert-61-covid-19-cases-and-fourth-death-announced.

We encourage everyone to review this guidance and carefully consider how you can be safer. While it is disappointing that the very thing we found so hard to do – engage in only small gatherings at the holiday – is now advised against.

We’ll keep you posted on any changes to our operations that result from this guidance and our own experience. Be well.
