Update for December 7, 2020

We received a positive test result for a Cascadilla House employee today.  The employee was at work when we received notification and was immediately removed. The employee is asymptomatic.  We are testing all Cascadilla House residents.  Visitation may be postponed from our December 10th target – we’ll share more tomorrow as this is a developing situation.  We also had a positive test result from a contractor who was being tested prior to coming on campus to for a project.  The contractor had not yet been here to do work and there is no exposure related to this positive.

We are getting many questions about the vaccine.  Right now there are more questions than answers.  We know that our skilled nursing residents and staff will be first priority for the vaccine, and they may receive vaccinations before the end of the month.  At this time we have no indication that the vaccine will be mandatory for residents and staff.  We are not getting clear answers about when we might expect Assisted Living residents and staff to receive the vaccine partly because the pharmacies don’t yet know how much vaccine they are receiving.  As of today, we have no information about availability or distribution plans for Independent Living residents and non-health center staff.  I will communicate information as we receive it.

Kendal is committed to facilitating access to the vaccine for all of our residents and staff.  Please watch for updates.
