Cafe Re-Opening for Limited Service

After a hiatus, your reporter is back on duty, and not a minute too soon.

The big news is an expansion of in-person dining possibilities. Dining by reservation in the Windows Dining Room at dinner has been going smoothly. Natalie Nicholas, Director of Dining Services, reports that a typical number of diners is between 30 and 40.

Some residents have always preferred to have their community meal at mid-day and have been clamoring for the Café to re-open for resident dining. (It has been open for staff dining, three meals a day.) As of August 24, the Café is re-opened for resident dining at breakfast, lunch and dinner. This dining is arranged by reservation only at lunch and dinner, and is limited to parties of 1,2,3, or 4 persons. Breakfast is dine in or pick up.

Take-out dining from the Café is also available for all three meals. Pick up times for orders are staggered by where residents live, to limit the potential for congestion.

Table and chairs have been strategically arranged to all small groups of diners while maintaining the mandatory social distance and the density of diners. In addition, one-way traffic flow through the Café was initiated to limit the amount of bumping.

Meal delivery continues to be available free of charge. Meals can be ordered by telephone or on-line. Windows dining is available for dinner Monday through Saturday and Sunday brunch. At this time we are not able to welcome guests to the dining room.
