April 29, 2020 —A while back, we asked residents to share any written compositions that they were inspired to create during this time when perspective and equilibrium are out of normal balance. Here’s a contribution from a member of the Poetry Writing Group here at Kendal at Ithaca:
Life As We Know It
A friend e-mails
When he goes out
It’s in a cloud of Clorox
Zoom conversation
With Granddaughters
Don’t forget to exercise
Daughter calls
Don’t watch too much TV
Keep a schedule
Son calls with a recipe
For making Clorox wipes
Use on everything
Friend calls nothing has changed
In rural Oregon
How are things there?
Meals delivered, meetings canceled
Sanitize library books
Kendal taking care
Daughter-in-law calls
Write a lot of poetry
Best advice!!

As we continue to ‘PAUSE’, we are grateful for the above and beyond efforts of the staff and residents here at Kendal at Ithaca. Business continues, albeit in altered ways. Residents are beginning to clean the courtyard gardens in between snows. Daffodils persist in brightening the landscape, even while bent over under the weight of snow. Snow in April – it must foretell something. If you know what, please write ! Thanks.
