Unmasked At Last

Yesterday afternoon, Laurie Mante, Executive Director, lifted the mask requirement for residents, visitors and most staff while in the community areas of the campus. Believe me, it didn’t take long for the work to spread and there was much joy at dinner !

Restrictions still apply in the Health Center (Cascadilla and Taughannock Houses) and at Residents’ Care, however. Eye protection precautions have been lifted in the Health Center.

Occupancy limits for meeting rooms and the auditorium are restored to pre-COVID levels. Catering can be arranged for meetings and social events; pool exercise classes can resume.

Dining venues remain closed to visitors at this time.

If anyone is at high risk of complications from COVID or feel that a particular gathering has a high density of people for the space, they should wear a mask.

It is interesting to note that while mask-wearing was mandatory for COVID reasons, many staff chose to decline the flu vaccination. Those who were not vaccinated will be required to wear masks until they receive the flu vaccination.

We celebrate this step forward and continue to be cautious to prevent a step backward !

Be well, Betsy
