New Mask Requirement for Kendal at Ithaca 8/5/2021

August 5, 2021

COVID Update

We are continuing to watch the uptick in COVID cases nationally and locally, as well as monitor the guidance from the CDC and state and local public health officials. Tompkins County has seen 75 new cases in the last seven days and there are currently 86 active cases in the county.

Beginning today, we are instituting the following additional precautions:

  • Masks must be worn indoors, regardless of vaccination status, whenever you are within six feet of others, except when you are eating.
  • The pool, fitness center, aerobics room and dining venues may only be used by Kendal residents and staff. No visitors are permitted in these areas, except to go through the buffet line to purchase food to be eaten outside the dining areas.

Please wear a mask when you are shopping (indoors) or attending indoor events off the campus. We also recommend you wear masks indoors when visiting with others in residences, especially those who are unvaccinated.

We anticipate a requirement soon that all visitors to the community center must be vaccinated. This does not apply to the health center as current regulations require us to allow all visitors to the health center regardless of vaccination status.  We do, however, strongly recommend that health center residents only visit with unvaccinated visitors outside.

Thanks for all you are doing to keep our Kendal at Ithaca community safe.
