COVID Update for April 19, 2022

After weeks of watching the numbers related to COVID increase, Kendal at Ithaca is responding to escalating rates of positive tests and possible exposures.

As of April 19, masks will be required in all areas of the Community Center at Kendal at Ithaca for ALL residents, visitors and staff. Please review the protocols for proper mask-wearing, especially ensuring that your nose is properly covered.

We currently have four independently living residents testing positive and six staff members out of work for COVID-related reasons. One common thread appears to be dining together in person for the residents.

Therefore, as of today, Tuesday, April 19, In Person Dining is being paused as of the evening meal. Windows and the Cafe will be open for takeout only. At this point in time, we expect this pause to extend until at least Friday. During the pause, there will be no charges for meal delivery.

As of now, there are no changes to the protocols for visitation in the health center. Please check back for updates.

On a brighter note, a booster clinic was held today for residents and staff of Kendal at Ithaca. Nearly all residents eligible for another booster took advantage of this convenient opportunity. Boosters will also continue to be offered on Wednesday with arrangement through Residents’ Care.

Be well, Betsy Schermerhorn
