Hospice Provider

We partner with Hospicare and Palliative Care Services to provide palliative care, hospice services, and grief support for our residents. This is a very fitting piece of a continuing care community. Services are usually offered in your home at Kendal at Ithaca or at the 6-bed Hospicare residence on South Hill.

Hospicare supports your entire family and can relieve your loved ones of responsibilities and stresses at a very difficult time – allowing you to spend more time connecting and building memories. As in planning a move to Kendal, people often realize that they should have contacted Hospicare sooner.

There are three Hospicare programs that Kendal residents can benefit from:

  • The palliative care program provides specialized medical care that focuses on relieving symptoms and stress at any stage of a serious illness. The goal of palliative care is to improve quality of life for both you and your family. Palliative care is provided by a specially-trained team of doctors, nurses, and other specialists who work with your other doctors to provide an extra layer of support.
  • The hospice team makes people comfortable in the last six months of their lives by honoring wishes and providing far more than medical care. Your interdisciplinary care team will take into consideration all medical, emotional and spiritual needs. Patients have access to care from physicians, nurses, social workers, grief counselors, home health aides and volunteers, allowing you to more fully enjoy time with loved ones. Following a death, Hospicare also supports the family with 13 months of bereavement services.
  • Finally, as a part of their commitment to the community, Hospicare provides grief support services, workshops and programs to any resident who is grieving the death of a loved one, whether or not they died on hospice.

It’s never too early to call with questions, and there are never any obligations. Hospicare can be reached at 607-272-0212 or info@hospicare.org.
