Mission Statement

Kendal at Ithaca is a not-for-profit continuing care retirement community. Our vision is to be a community whose hallmarks are the Quaker values of respect, care, and trust. In addition, we strive to be good stewards of our resources and environment.

Our mission is to provide a mutually supportive environment for residents and staff, and to contribute to the greater Ithaca community.

The Internal Revenue Service Form 990 (or form 990-PF, for private foundations) is filed annually by public charities and nonprofits, such as Kendal at Ithaca. The form lists assets, receipts, expenditures and compensation of officers for the most recently completed fiscal year.

Directions to Kendal at Ithaca, 2230 N. Triphammer Road., Ithaca, NY  14850

1.  From the South (Binghamton):

  • Take I-81 north to the Whitney Point exit (Exit 8).
  • Turn right off the exit (onto Route 26) and then turn left at the stop sign onto Route 11/79.
  • Go straight through Whitney Point while Route 11 merges briefly with Route 79.
  • Stay on Route 79 (after Route 11 bends away to the right shortly after leaving Whitney Point) until you come to Richford.
  • At the four-way stop in Richford, turn right onto Route 38 (North).
  • Stay on Route 38 until you come to Dryden (about 10-15 miles).
  • At the traffic light in Dryden, turn left onto Route 13 (South).
  • Follow Route 13 toward Ithaca (about 10 miles).
  • Take the Triphammer Road exit (just after the Warren Road/Airport exit).
  • Turn left off the exit onto Triphammer Road, and get in the right hand lane.  After about two blocks, Kendal will be on your right.  There is a bus stop next to the Kendal entrance.
  • Turn right into Kendal and turn left at the stop sign.  After making a curve, you will see the visitors’ parking lot and the main entrance to the right.

2.  From NYC/Southeast NY

(a)  Via Route 17:
  • (From NYC) Take Routes 87/287 until you come to Harriman.
  • (From NYC) in Harriman, connect with Route 17 West.
  • Take Route 17 West until Binghamton.  Take Exit 75 and connect with Route 81 North.
  • Follow the directions in 1.
(b) Via Route I-80:
  • Take I-80 West
  • Merge onto I-380 North towards Scranton.
  • In Scranton, merge onto I-81 North
  • Follow the directions in 1.

3.  From the North (Syracuse):

  • Take I-81 South.
  • Take Exit 12 (Route 281) and turn left at the end of the ramp onto 281.
  • In a few miles, Route 281 merges with Route 13.
  • Stay on Route 13.  You will travel through the outskirts of Cortland and through Dryden.  In Dryden, you will need to turn right at the second traffic light to stay on Route 13.
  • About 10 miles past Dryden, take the Triphammer Road exit (just after the Warren Road/Airport exit).
  • Turn left off the exit onto Triphammer Road, and get in the right hand lane.  After about two blocks, Kendal will be on your right.  There is a bus stop next to the Kendal entrance.
  • Turn right into Kendal and turn left at the stop sign.  After making a curve, you will see the visitors’ parking lot and the main entrance to the right.

4.  From the Albany area:

(a) Via the Thruway (I-90):
  • Take I-90 West
  • Take Exit 34A and merge left onto I-481 (going West/South).
  • Merge onto I-81 South
  • Follow the directions in 3.

(b) Via I-88:

  • From Albany, take the Thruway (I-90) West.
  • Take Exit 25-A and merge onto I-88 West towards Binghamton.
  • From I-88 West, take Exit 8 (for Bainbridge, Route 206).  Turn right onto Route 206.
  • Stay on Route 206 until you reach Whitney Point.  Turn right onto Route 11/79.
  • Follow the directions in 1 for how to get from Route 79 to Kendal.

5.  From points West:

(a)  From the Buffalo area:
  • Take the Thruway (I-90) East
  • Take Exit 42 (for Route 14 – Geneva/Lyons).
  • Take a slight right onto Route 318, then quickly turn right onto Route 14.  In less than half a mile, merge onto Route 96 South.
  • Stay on 96 until you reach Ithaca.  It will turn into W. Buffalo Street.
  • Turn left onto Route 13 North, and follow 13 up the hill to the Triphammer Road exit.
  • Take the exit and turn right onto Triphammer Road.  After about two blocks, the entrance to Kendal will be on your right.  There is a bus stop next to the Kendal entrance.
  • Turn right into Kendal and turn left at the stop sign.  After making a curve, you will see the visitors’ parking lot and the main entrance to the right.
(b) From Southwest NY (Jamestown and Corning areas):
  • Take Route 17/86 east towards Binghamton.
  • Take Exit 54 (Route 13) towards Ithaca.
  • Stay on Route 13 until the Triphammer Road exit.  Take the exit and turn right onto Triphammer road.  After about two blocks, the entrance to Kendal will be on your right.  There is a bus stop next to the Kendal entrance.
  • Turn right into Kendal and turn left at the stop sign.  After making a curve, you will see the visitors’ parking lot and the main entrance to the right.
