Windows Dining Room is Open Again; Visitation Reopens for Taughannock House

Last evening, Kendal residents were welcomed back into the Windows Dining Room. The necessary mask and distancing protocols were in place, but there was a jolly lot waiting for their turn. Seatings are spread out to ease traffic congestion for those persons visiting the buffet to be served. Table service is also available. Dining is by reservation only. No outside guests or Kendal staff are permitted at this time.

Residents were also invited to return to the Café for Dine-in or Take-out service for all three meals.

Visitation to residents of Taughannock House (skilled nursing) will resume on Wednesday, March 3. Each resident will be permitted two one hour visits per week, and the visits will take place in resident rooms. Visitors who are vaccinated can visit with out any further testing prior to the visit. Other visitors will be required to be tested no more than 7 days prior to the visit. Kendal at Ithaca is offering rapid testing for visitors during scheduled hours. Visits must be scheduled 24 hours in advance and arrangements can be made through Kasey Cole, 607-266-5368.

We continue to look for fresh guidance from DOH about visitation that recognizes that specific physical plant features (like all private rooms such as we have) and having all residents vaccinated (which we’ve done) warrant special consideration and more leeway in their visitation protocols. ‘Nuff said about that !
