Update for February 18, 2021

Today we were notified that a resident of Taughannock House (THouse, our skilled nursing residence) tested positive for COVID 19. Thankfully the resident is symptom-free. This resident has been on room rest due to a recent hospitalization and multiple medical appointments, so there is no exposure to other residents.

However, per DOH protocols, all neighborhoods of THouse will be placed on full precautions and all congregate dining and activities will be placed on pause.

All THouse residents were rapid tested today and all were negative, including the resident mentioned above. Please reach out to your friends and family members in THouse over the next couple of weeks as these periods of full precautions can be very frustrating for our residents. Phone calls, cards, treats and flowers are all most welcome. Just a reminder that video chats and window visits can be arranged through Maria Giampaolo, 266 5319

The resident who tested positive had been fully vaccinated for COVID 19, receiving the second dose on January 25th.  While there is suspicion about a false positive in this case, this incident serves as a sobering reminder that vaccination is not a guaranteed protection from COVID19 and continued precautions are important.

Be well,
