Kendal at Ithaca Update for October 22, 2020

Today we received a positive test result for a resident of the Cayuga neighborhood.  We are grateful that the resident is completely asymptomatic – we’re hopeful that this continues.  The resident has been moved to a negative pressure room. The Cayuga neighborhood remains on full contact and droplet precautions.

All other nursing home residents’ results are back and there are no new positive cases.  All staff results received in the past 24 hours have been negative.

Our Executive Director, Laurie Mante, sent this message to the Kendal at Ithaca staff today:

“I want to again thank the staff who are providing care to residents throughout the campus – but especially in Thouse and particularly Cayuga (the affected neighborhood), for the work being done in challenging circumstances.  So many staff have gone above and beyond, there are too many to single out. It has taken many people doing many things in addition to their typical job descriptions to keep residents comfortable and well cared for.  We are lucky indeed to have such a dedicated team.”
