“Situated along the southern shores of Cayuga Lake, the city of Ithaca was named one of the best places to live in 2019. With a population of just 30,000, Ithaca may technically be a city but when you’re here you’ll always feel like you’re in the midst of a small town and all of its charm.

Ithaca made its way onto Livability’s Top 100 list with positive scores in categories like Infrastructure, Health, and Education – with an overall LIV Score of 625, only 49 points off from the top destination. Over the course of history, Ithaca has become known as New York’s City of Waterfalls, with more than 150 waterfalls within Ithaca’s limits and an abundance of parks to explore. Livability pointed out the importance of one of Ithaca’s highest-scoring categories, Education, showcasing how the city is home to two significant colleges – Cornell University and Ithaca College…

The city is also one that’s incredibly walkable, with the average commute being just 16 minutes here in Ithaca and many often traveling by foot or bike. Places in town like Ithaca Commons, a pedestrian mall, also showcase how you can find everything you need in one spot with more than a hundred shops all within walking distance of each other. Ithaca Farmers Market [is] one of the best markets that you can check out here in New York.”
