The story keeps getting better at Kendal.

Kendal at Ithaca is beginning an exciting new chapter in the future of senior living in Ithaca, with a $39 million expansion and enhancement plan. That includes:

New Skilled Nursing Accommodations — A new one-story skilled nursing center comprised of three neighborhoods of 16 rooms designed for delivering person-centered care.

Second Dining Venue — The new café will provide an additional dining option for residents, visitors and staff in an informal setting.

Entrance — Residents and visitors will immediately feel the warmth of the community and have easy access to the new café, fitness center, yoga and aerobics studio, pool and health center.

Enhance the Dining Experience —Kendal’s goal is to continue to improve residents’ already expanding culinary experience by offering even more variety, freshness and healthier options prepared and served for each resident.

New Residential Living Apartments — A two-story building with 24 apartments will be constructed, bringing the total number of independent living residences on campus to 236. It will be situated off the southeast corner of the swimming pool, convenient to all community amenities.

Health Center — The Health Center will be moving to a larger space that will accommodate more user-friendly exam rooms and office suites. This includes a dental suite with lift, allowing residents to transfer safely. Home Care and health administration offices will be more efficient and spacious.

Expanded Fitness Program — Enhanced fitness amenities will provide more program options for the residents and staff.

Updated Common Areas — The enhancement will bring an updated, fresh appearance to the entire community with new carpet, lighting, wall and ceiling finishes in existing hallways, locker rooms, lobbies, and the Enhanced Assisted Living dining room. A new room for resident activities will be created, a new salon with massage room and expanded services will be added, and the library will add space for computer-based services.
