OUTREACH
Kendal at Ithaca takes
seriously its role as a neighbor and as a member of the larger
community.
The not for profit organizations
in Tompkins County are welcome to use our facilities for conferences
and meetings without charge, and do so with great frequency. We
host quarterly blood drives at Kendal in which other organizations
participate. The 55 Alive Driving Course is held at Kendal regularly.
We host the Silver Service Lecture Series which is presented by
the local hospital. Our swimming pool is used by the Cayuga Medical
Center weekly for a therapeutic exercise class.
Kendal at Ithaca is often
involved with students from Cornell University and Ithaca College.
Several classes each semester visit Kendal and meet with residents
and staff. Kendal residents participate in a variety of research
projects.
Outreach often assumes
more subtle forms. The Kendal Dining staff baked cookies for the
Cabin Fever Fair, a yearly event which raises money for charities
devoted to children's issues. We welcome neighbors to use our
walking paths, and we participate in various charitable events.
