Talent

There is an amazing array of talent at Kendal at Ithaca, and fortunately, most enjoy contributing their expertise for the benefit of others.

Without the efforts of those with interest and training in library science, Kendal would not have its efficiently run, 12,000 volume library. Without the efforts of the members of the Woodworking Shop, Kendal would not have the large number of useful items we take for granted. Without the efforts of our resident writers, Kendal would not have The Breeze , the residents' newsletter. Without the efforts of our computer experts, Kendal would not have a fully equipped computer lab offering services and instruction. Without the efforts of the Stitch Witches, residents could not get mending done for a reasonable fee. Without the efforts of talented organizers, Kendal would not have the acclaimed Lyceum series. Without the efforts of talented artists and craftspeople, Kendal would not have the interesting objects found throughout the Community Center. Without the efforts of our gardeners, Kendal's site would be far less beautiful, and there would not be baskets of vegetables available for the taking each day.

Staff members are involved in volunteer activities in Ithaca and the adjoining counties. They serve in positions of responsibility in charitable organizations, groups involved with the arts, schools, and churches, and are coaches and boosters of athletic events.

A number of members of the Ithaca community contribute their expertise through their service on our Board of Directors. This represents a serious commitment of time and energy from people who are already very busy, and Kendal at Ithaca appreciates their efforts.
